NCEC was born to support students statewide

NC Education Corps (NCEC) was launched in 2020, when the effects of COVID-19 shuttered schools across North Carolina and moved learning online. The pandemic exacerbated existing learning gaps and set students back academically. NCEC was created to bring high-impact tutoring into schools that helps students thrive.

Our goal is educational excellence everywhere

NCEC works to accelerate student learning and strengthen communities by empowering caring adults to support students in data-informed ways.

We envision a nation, starting in North Carolina, where all students have the educational support they need to thrive. We do it through a growing community of champions for students who advance outcomes and unlock their potential.

The research is clear.
High-impact tutoring works.

High-impact tutoring, with local community members serving as in-person tutors, has been shown to be an effective method to help students do better in school. At NCEC, we are seeing the results in both quantitative and qualitative ways as we put it into practice daily.

Piloting the future

From our initial focus on K-3 literacy, we built up our offerings to include K-5 reading programs. We are now piloting K-5 math tutoring based on school demand.

If you’re interested in helping us support more students in more ways by joining a pilot program, reach out to learn more and express interest.
